Royal Wedding
The Moorish Chamber, where the Prussian king Frederick William IV held tea parties and in which couples have been able to get married since May 2004, is a genuinely royal location. Potsdam’s civil registry has set up a branch office here for marriage ceremonies in this special atmosphere. The Belvedere continues to enchant visitors with its strikingly exclusive setting high above the city and its Italianesque architecture. A wedding followed by a reception is a festive and unforgettable event for the bride and groom as well as their guests!
The interior of the Moorish Chamber in the Belvedere’s eastern tower is designed with ceiling frescos, a marble floor and fine ceramic tiles in the style of the Spanish Alhambra. Simple, unobtrusive furnishings are used to accommodate wedding ceremonies. Following the ceremony, the bridal couple can retrace the steps of royalty through the colonnades to a reception in the western arcade or at the Temple of Pomona.
The costs for a marriage ceremony and reception in the Moorish Chamber in 2009 are 550 euros for up to 25 people and 650 euros for more than 25 people.
A marriage ceremony at the Belvedere without a reception costs 350 euros. A taxi service serving as a shuttle from a nearby parking lot at the Volkspark is included in the price, because parking spaces at the Belvedere are reserved only for the bridal couple.
The Potsdam civil registry office takes inquiries regarding dates for marriage ceremonies during its season (from May by September) at the following telephone number: +49 (0) 331 2891738.
The Förderverein Pfingstberg e.V. will help you with the arrangements of the ceremony and subsequent reception, offering recommendations for musicians, entertainers, caterers and flower shops on request.
